Our Ministry

Every Thought Captive is a teaching and writing ministry that brings the timeless truths of God’s Word to the lives of His people. Over the years Brad and Kathy have had the privilege of ministering to people from all over the world in all sorts of ministry and teaching settings. As a life-long educator, Brad brings wonderful insights to God’s Word as he applies his educational background and studies in mathematics, philosophy and theology to his teaching. Kathy’s skills as a writer and editor are a huge asset to the team. She has been involved with women’s ministry for many years and takes joy in ministering alongside Brad. With thirty years of marriage and three beautiful daughters between them, Brad and Kathy have a lot of practical life experience to share.

Brad Belcher

Born and raised in central Illinois, Brad graduated from Taylor University in Upland, IN with a BS in Mathematics Secondary Education in 1985. That same year he married his college sweetheart and best friend Kathy.

Over the years God has blessed Brad and Kathy with many education, business and ministry related opportunities. Initially Brad taught Mathematics at East Peoria High School for two years before becoming a State Farm Agent in Jefferson, WI. During that time Brad served as an interim youth pastor, interim worship director, deacon, and elder along with occasional pulpit supply at Faith Community Church in Fort Atkinson, WI.

In 1997 Brad became the pastor of Crossroads Evangelical Free Church in Coldwater, MI. In 2000 Brad and Kathy moved to Portage, MI to plant Cherry Creek Community Church. During this time Brad began his theological studies in Systematic Theology, Biblical Hebrew and Christian Worldview at Grand Rapids Theological Seminary. Brad then completed his MA in Christian Thought/Philosophy of Religion from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in 2008. In 2010 Brad became the Executive Pastor of Grace Church in Granger, IN. While serving at Grace he also served as the Interim Administrator of Granger Christian School. In 2011 Brad accepted a call to the International Baptist Church of Budapest as the Senior Pastor where he served for 2.5 years. God then called Brad and his family to SonLight Community Church in Angola, IN where Brad has served since April 1, 2015. Brad is now working on his DMin from Grace Theological Seminary.

Along with his pastoral duties over the years Brad has taught Bible, Philosophy, World Religion, Business and Mathematics courses for Cornerstone University, Kalamazoo Valley Community College, Kellogg Community College, Jackson Hole Bible College and Word of Life Hungary Bible Institute. He has also had the privilege of preaching and teaching in India, Haiti and Hungary. He is now in the process of writing his first book on marriage reconciliation titled Wholly Matrimony that is due for release in 2016.

Brad loves spending time with his favorite people who include his wife and his daughters Abbie and Leanna and newly married daughter and son in law Kelly and Chris. Brad’s life verse is Ezra 7:10: “For Ezra had set his heart to study the law of the LORD, and to practice it, and to teach His statutes and ordinances in Israel.”

Kathy Belcher

Kathy graduated from Illinois State University with a BS in Mass Communications with an emphasis in Journalism. She has used her editing and writing skills over the years in the many ministries that God has led her to. Her biggest ministry is her family, Brad and their three girls (one newly married), and takes joy in helping to raise these young godly women. She celebrates marriage and encourages other women to do the same.
